The UHaul is reserved

Today I went to the UHaul shop and put down my credit card to reserve a UHaul truck for two days. On Tuesday, I will be working on the hanging and placement of the art. The plan is to prepare as much as I can so that when Wednesday morning rolls around, I just get out of bed and get in the truck.

I've been toying with the idea of copying something I saw at Chanel's Mobile Art Show in New York City last summer. There, they provided headphones and an mp3 player. A sultry older French female's voice told you when to enter a room, sit down on a chair, stand up and turn left, etc. The one problem is that since the pieces are for sale, if I create an mp3 taking you on, lets say, a 3-minute tour of the pieces, and a piece sells, but the mp3 says its there and describes it, the experience doesn't work. The work around I came up with is to photograph each piece when the truck is 100% hung and staged, print out each photo on 11 by 17 paper, and hang/place it where the sold art once was. That way, they can at least see a version of the piece.

UHaul shows in other cities

The very first Mobile Art Show will take place in a UHaul because (a) its the easiest type of truck to get, (b) its low-cost, (c) I don't need a special license to drive it. Here are examples of art shows across the country occuring in UHauls.
